South Africa tour of Sri Lanka 2013: Sangakkara carrier best 169 keeps Sri Lanka to beat South Africa by 180 runs in the 1st ODI Cricket match Played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on 20th July 2013. With this win Sri Lanka lead the 5 ODI Match series by 1-0. Fantastic win for the hosts! This is South Africa's second biggest defeat in ODIs by runs.

Early South Africa have won the toss and they asked Sri Lanka to bat. Sri Lanka scored 50 runs in the 1st power play with the loss of opener TM Dilshan, who bowled by CH Morris when he was scored 10 runs. The 2nd Wicket partnership gives Sri Lanka to a good platform to score huge runs in the end. KC Sangakkara reach his 50 off 67 balls and 100 in 103 balls. WU Tharanga got out on 43 runs and then DPMD Jayawardene scored a useful 42 runs. KC Sangakkara reach his carrier best 169 and then he caught by Duminy in the end. Finally Sri Lanka set Target of 321 runs to South Africa.

To chase a huge target South Africa loss their wicket in the regular intervals and they all out for 140 runs. Malinga cleaned up Ingram on the very first ball after which, Petersen, Duminy and de Villiers chipped in a few runs and it looked like the visitors were fighting back. But some clever bowling by the spinners out-foxed them and they began losing wickets at regular intervals. Sri Lanka lead the 5-match series 1-0.

Kumar Sangakkara is the Man of the Match. Sangakkara and he said "We had a bit of luck to start. Upul batted well. When he got out Mahela came in and raised the tempo, he had nearly caught up with me when he got out. It then became a bit easier. It was a bit two-paced, it was about facing enough deliveries and get going, I took 34 overs to get going but I stuck in there. Morkel bowled good spells, it was about absorbing that and targeting the others." in the Presentation.
